The government announced recently that it will allocate 6 million 800 thousand yuan Singapore dollars (about 5 million 600 thousand US dollars) to the textile and garment industry personnel training to promote the sustainable development of the textile and garment industry in Singapore.

The plan will be jointly implemented by the Singapore Human Resources Development Council (WDA) and the Singapore textile and Garment Association (TAFF). The aim is to train professionals needed in the textile and garment industry to support their industries in the direction of high value-added.

According to the relevant framework agreement, the first year will cost about 2 million 800 thousand yuan new currency, involving training projects, including product design and research and development, global procurement, as well as supply chain management and sales.

The remaining 4 million yuan will be used to train 2800 other professionals in the next three years.

The manufacturer said that WDA has helped the company recruit professionals with managerial expertise in Singapore to work in offices in Indonesia and Vietnam.
