Sales Index Is Expected To Tighten

The British Federation of industry 27 announced that the British CBI retail in September.

Sales Index

From -14 in August to -15, it was the lowest level in 16 months.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) announced in September 27th that the UK retail sales index fell to -15 in September, the lowest level since May 2010, as consumer spending on clothing and household items decreased.

The retail sales index in September was in line with economists.

Expect

The UK retail sales index for August was -14.

In addition, the UK September orders index rose from -22 in August to -16; the stock index reflecting demand expectations fell from 22 in August to 16; the retail sales expectation index fell from -30 in August to -30.

CBI said clothing sales fell in September, the most recent since July 2009, and household appliances sales also shrank sharply.

CBI officials Judith McKenna said low wage growth, high prices and rising unemployment have continued to frustrate consumer confidence, and household spending has increased even after the rise in utility costs.

Tighten up

Retailers are expected to face more challenges in October.
