Chinese Cotton Mills Have Been Asked To Stop Buying Australian Cotton

 

Australia's cotton imports were $37.9 billion per year, with Australia's largest cotton import of $37.9 billion in 2018.

 

Since the beginning of this year, Sino Australian relations have deteriorated because Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, acting as a pawn of the United States, has unjustifiably accused China of its performance in the outbreak of new crown pneumonia, and has called for an independent investigation into the origin of the outbreak.

 

Australian government sources said that these cotton mills have import quotas, but if they import Australian cotton, they may not get the import quota next year. If Chinese cotton mills continue to buy Australian cotton, they may face a 40% tariff.

 

Australia's trade minister, Simon Birmingham, said in an email that the government was aware of a change in cotton exports.

 

Just a few days ago, Australia was trying to confirm reports that China had ordered a moratorium on Australian coal purchases.

 

In May, China imposed a total of 80.5% anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Australian barley

 

On Tuesday, China also said it had launched an anti-dumping investigation into Australian wine imports.
