Designer profile:

Yohji Yamamoto is a mystery. It is a riddle that sets the character of Oriental calm and meticulous.

His fashion creation is to show the mystery in front of the public in a way of no national boundaries and no ethnic differences.

Orientals naturally understand Yohji Yamamoto better than Westerners.

In the late 60s, Yamamoto Teruji began to dress up by helping his mother make clothes.

Before that, the tailors in Tokyo had a low status. They had to walk around the house, and they could only walk through the small door and carefully dress the western style.

Yamamoto is not such a person. After graduating from law school, he traveled to Europe for a period of time in Paris.

In the early years, Yamamoto was not accustomed to everything, including the secular concept, the petty bourgeoisie sentiment, and the old rules of Japanese life.

After World War II, many Japanese women had to go out and work outside to subsidize their families, but they did not really get equal treatment with men.

In order for women to dress more conveniently at work, Yamamoto began to design loose, comfortable, smart and beautiful clothes for them.

In 1999, at the autumn fashion show in Paris, Yamamoto asked the bride on the platform to take out shoes, gloves and bouquet from the zipper pocket of the wedding dress.

He also reappeared the big hat worn by the female passengers of the Titanic.

Yamamoto Teruji once studied fashion design in France, but he was not assimilated by the West.

Western dressing ideas often use a tight dress to embody the graceful curves of women. Yamamoto uses kimono as the foundation to form a concept of non fixed structure by stacking, dangling and wrapping.

Yamamoto likes to draw inspiration from traditional Japanese costumes and convey the idea of fashion through the rich combination of color and quality.

In the west, many people make stereoscopic clipping from top to bottom in human models. Yamamoto set off in two dimensional straight lines to form an asymmetrical appearance. This chic idea is the essence of Japanese traditional dress culture, because these irregular forms do not knead at all, but appear natural and smooth.

In Yamamoto Teruji's clothing, asymmetrical collar and hem are common, and the clothing of the brand will also follow the body movements to show different styles.

Yamamoto did not follow the trend of western fashion, but boldly developed the essence of Japanese traditional dress culture and formed an anti fashion style.

This new dress concept, which runs counter to the mainstream of the west, has not only foothold in the fashion industry, but also in turn influenced Western designers.

The extension of the concept of beauty has been extended, and the beauty of texture has overcome the beauty of decoration that has dominated the fashion world for many years.

Among them, Yamamoto used linen fabrics and viscose fabrics to be superb, forming a unique steady and pleat effect.

Good at the use of new fabrics is also a common feature of many Japanese designers.

Yamamoto Teruji's brand is mostly black, which follows the style of Japanese culture.

Yamamoto Teruji, especially for men's wear, has a great success in the free combination of Y&y's brand line and the medium price strategy.

In Yamamoto Teruji's clothing, there was such a phrase on the placards, which could express the spirit of brand. "What is more boring than wearing rules?"

He firmly believed that fashion design and painting were creative arts, determined not to be seen as inferior.
