What do you think is the most important skill in the workplace?

I raised this question with my colleagues. The answers I heard are: focus, communicate smoothly, and lead others to make a difference.

These are very important skills, but not the most important. For me, the most important skill is to be happy and keep happy. In other words, control emotions.

Why is emotion control so important?

If you can control your emotions, you can control your emotions whenever something happens around you. Even if the sky falls, you can be happy. When you are happy, you naturally have the skills mentioned at the beginning of this article.

One of the reasons why it is difficult to get and keep happiness is that we leave our emotions to others to "control".

We often hear the saying: "He made me angry!" "She really pissed me off at that meeting!"

When you say "so and so have made me mad", you admit that the control of your emotions belongs to others. They drive you crazy. They have the ability to control your emotions.

In fact, no matter in the past or now, others have no such power. It is you who choose to be "mad" and choose to stay away from happiness.

Many people live like "dogs of Pavlov" in their life. Things beyond their control will stimulate their emotional reactions, bouncing like marbles between external forces.

"I got promoted, yeah, so happy!"

"That bastard pushed me into the fire pit at work, which made me angry!"

I also confided this many times until a mentor reminded me: "When on earth can you handle the relationship between yourself and all problems? The root is you."

Like the process of mastering other skills, mastering the skills of controlling emotions also requires frequent practice.

You can often ask yourself: "Do I want to keep the current mood?" If the answer to this question is "No", then the next step is to choose the mood you want to have.

Your emotion 100% controlled by your thoughts. You are unhappy, probably because there is something in your brain negative The idea of. If you often think "I am a loser, my boss is very poor, my salary is low, no one loves me, everyone is vicious, and my life is like suffering in hell", then you are likely to feel terrible.

Breaking this negative cycle requires changing your mind. It is very useful for me to be grateful all the time, because gratitude and happiness are closely linked. This is not only my opinion, but also supported by a large number of studies.

Sometimes, life It's not easy for you, but there are still some things you should be grateful for, even if they are small and funny.

There was a difficult stage in my life: business failed, so I was in debt, and my employees lost their jobs. I felt very guilty and wailed in the car.

Suddenly, I found myself indulging in self pity. I don't want to continue this terrible feeling of powerlessness, so I reluctantly listed the people and things I am grateful for.

At that time, the only thing that came to my mind was that I was wearing clean socks. I know it's funny, but this idea makes me feel grateful to my husband (because he washed my socks for me). I am grateful to be a mother soon (I was eight months pregnant at that time). As the head of a bankrupt enterprise, I appreciate all the lessons learned from bankruptcy. I know I can calm down, cheer up, close the enterprise and continue to move forward.

To this day, I can't completely control my emotions, and I can't always be happy.
