The growers had lost a lot of money earlier because of the drop in domestic cotton prices, the Gujarat cotton gin Association claimed.
The Gujarat cotton gin Association announced that federal textiles minister Ma Lan and finance minister Mukherjee assured the delegation of the new cotton mill Association in May 19th that ministers will soon solve this problem.
After this guarantee, the cotton mill cancelled their strike.
So far, however, there has been no progress in this regard.
The Gujarat cotton gin association hopes that the central government will cancel 5 million 500 thousand packages of cotton export quotas.
The central government of India allowed 8 million 500 thousand cotton exports last year, and this year, despite high cotton output, exports are still at a low level.
The Gujarat cotton gin Association therefore stated that it is necessary to remove such quotas in the light of the interests of cotton growers.
As a special case, the Gujarat cotton gin association hopes to export 1 million 500 thousand bales of cotton from Gujarat.
