Kampuchea's employer and Business Association (CAMFEBA) issued a statement expressing regret for the 12 day decision of the European Commission to revoke preferential tariff treatment for some commodities.

The statement stressed that the move of the European Commission will seriously affect the lives of the people of Kampuchea, and it can not change the current political situation.

According to foreign media reports, the European Commission announced on the evening of February 12th, because Kampuchea seriously and systematically violated the relevant tariff and preferential agreement on human rights and other related requirements, the EU will withdraw part of the preferential tariff treatment EBA currently enjoying in Kampuchea, involving some clothing and footwear worth about 1 billion euros, and all travel commodities and sugar products.

The statement pointed out that if the European Parliament and the European Council did not raise objections, the decision would take effect from August 12, 2020.
